From Cameroon to Mauritius — a journey rooted in purpose
I'm Merlaine Chinda Djimelah, a Cameroonian educator based in Flic en Flac, Mauritius. I believe every child can thrive when met where they are — and I've dedicated my career to making that belief a reality.
A path shaped by passion and purpose
My journey in education began in Cameroon, where I taught in a government bilingual primary school with 35+ pupils per class. I learned early that teaching is not about delivering content — it's about reaching every child, especially those the system overlooks.
I moved to France to deepen my understanding of education, earning a degree in Education Sciences from Paris 8 University and a specialized certificate in Neurodevelopmental Disorders from CHU Montpellier. Now in Mauritius, I combine academic training with real classroom experience to serve families on the West Coast.
"I don't teach at children — I learn alongside them."

Six principles that guide everything I do
Inclusion is the default
Every lesson plan includes SEN/NDD adaptations. Inclusion isn't an afterthought — it's how I teach.
Play-based learning
Children learn best through play, movement, and discovery. Especially in the early years.
Child-centred, not curriculum-centred
I start from where the child is, not where the syllabus says they should be.
Parent partnership
Parents are essential partners. I share strategies you can use at home to reinforce learning.
Bilingualism is an asset
Growing up with two languages is a strength. I nurture both French and English equally.
Research-grounded
My practice is informed by Bourdieu, Durkheim, Montessori, and Finnish pedagogy.
